Col Sanjay Kumar Srivastava is Chairman of Climate Resilient Observing-Systems Promon Council and Convener of Lightning Resilient India Campaign.

He is a dynamic leader and possesses diverse educational qualifications such as M.Sc. (Military Science and Emergency management), Master in Business Administration (Human Resource), Master in Defence Management and Master in Business Administration (IIM Ahmedabad), Mass Communication (IIMC, Delhi). Backed up with 22 years in Army where he was commissioned in the regiment of Artillery Air Defence, he is also with practical experience in a variety of Disasters and served in corporate media for three years in leadership role. He also is ex Senior Consultant of FEMA, U.S.A.

He worked with Government of Jharkhand as Technical Advisor cum State Project Officer (UNDP) in Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction. He is active member of India’s National Disaster Management Authority since its inception. He has exposure in setting up state level Disaster Management Infrastructures like SDMA, SDRF, Training facilities, procurement of Specialised Disaster Management Equipment, coordination with Govt and NGOs, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), Communities, Volunteers, convergence of Government plans and projects, Early warning systems, Weather monitoring stations, emergency medical services, Mela management stampede management, mining disaster mitigation, flood and drought management, measures against lightening, forest fire, animal menace, epidemics mitigation, other urban and rural disasters.

 

He has been involved in Disaster Mitigations for three major Earthquakes (Latur, Bhuj and Kashmir), Super Cyclone of Orissa, Tsunami, Flash floods (Rajasthan, Surat, Vadodara, Nagaland, Jamshedpur), Cloud Burst in Himachal Pradesh, Flood (Assam, Bihar, Gujarat), Drought in Jharkhand, Terrorist attack, bomb blast in Delhi and landslide (Nagaland and Kashmir).
